Health Care Advocacy: Practical and Legal Issues
June 28, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:20 pm
Free – $30Presented by San Luis Obispo County Bar Association, Estates & Trust Section
Guest speaker: Linda R. Beck, Esq.
After 25+ years of practicing construction law, Linda has redirected her work into elder care and health care advocacy. Linda started caregiving for her parents with a crisis that disrupted her law practice and her life. After encountering many people struggling with unexpected caregiving responsibilities, Linda resolved to help others manage elder care with less drama and disruption by teaching caregivers and likely caregivers the essentials of elder- and health care advocacy. Linda’s experience includes her service as an Ombudsman with the San Luis Obispo County Office of the Long Term Care Ombudsman and as a member of the Leadership Council for the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care. She holds a certificate in Patient Advocacy from UCLA Extension, and earned her J.D from Hastings College of the Law. Linda continues to work part-time as a construction lawyer with Best Best & Krieger.
