San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation (SLOLAF) held its third annual fundraiser on September 10 at the extraordinary Edna Valley home of attorneys Lisa and Michael Toke. 200 guests stepped back into the 1920’s “Midnight in Paris” and enjoyed a traditional French dinner prepared by Chef Jose Dahan, French wine, signature martinis, casino tables, raffles, and a lively auction that concluded with Michael Morris jumping in the pool (fully clothed), raising an extra $1,500 in the process. Last year at “A Night in Tuscany,” SLOLAF’s 2015 Access to Justice Advocate, Don Ernst, surprised the crowd by jumping in the pool fully clothed as a creative way to raise funds for the non-profit organization. Don got to stay dry this year while Michael Morris, being a good sport on behalf of Andre, Morris & Buttery, SLOLAF’s 2016 Access to Justice Advocate, continued the tradition!
The evening raised $75,000 to benefit SLOLAF’s programs, which provide free legal services to vulnerable residents in need in San Luis Obispo County. SLOLAF runs the Senior Legal Services Project, serving seniors in need in San Luis Obispo County on a variety of legal matters. SLOLAF also provides legal services to veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless, and to disabled adults needing assistance with government benefits. SLOLAF strives to meet the legal needs of SLO County’s residents who cannot afford a private attorney and have no other resources available to them. SLOLAF is extremely grateful to the private bar for its support and welcomes feedback from its individual members.
SLOLAF would like to thank our local attorneys and friends for their ongoing support, and particularly those who made significant contributions such as our Access to Justice Sponsor, Andre, Morris & Buttery, along with Event Sponsors Adamski Moroski Madden Cumberland & Green LLP, Baltodano & Baltodano, the Bostrom Family, Carmel & Naccasha LLP, Coates & Coates LLP, Curtze Law Offices, Ernst Law Group, Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc., Pacific Western Bank, PG&E, Ray Mattison, Professional Mediation, and Sinsheimer Junkhe McIvor & Stroh LLP. If you missed this amazing evening, you will have another chance in 2017. The Tokes have generously offered their home again for SLOLAF’s fourth annual fundraiser.
